Andy Murray believes Arsenal should sack Unai Emery if he fails to quickly improve the team’s form.
Emery is under huge pressure following the 2-2 draw with Southampton last Saturday which has left his side eighth in the Premier League and eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Arsenal have registered just one win in their last eight matches and Murray, a Gunners supporter, feels the Spaniard’s departure could be necessary in order to see an improvement from the players.
‘I actually haven’t been to the ground this season,’ Murray told talkSPORT.
‘But from what I’ve been reading the atmosphere has been pretty bad, and I don’t think that’s good news for the players, staff or anyone there.
‘Unless that changes quickly, a change has to be made.’
Jose Mourinho reportedly held talks with Arsenal’s hierarchy before he replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham manager last week.
And Murray admits Mourinho would have been a ‘great appointment’ if Arsenal decided to sack Emery.
‘I love it when he’s in the Premier League,’ said Murray.
‘I just think he makes it so much more interesting to be honest.
‘I think he would do a good job for Arsenal.
‘The one thing about him is that you know he will win.
‘He finds ways to win matches, tournaments.
‘That would have been a great appointment.’
